Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, 300+ WERC members from around the world contribute time and expertise to advance the talent mobility industry by volunteering with WERC. WERC is your association, and WERC volunteers are essential drivers behind the association’s accomplishments and impact—for the people, by the people. Whether you have an hour a week, an hour a month, or an hour a quarter, consider getting involved through one of many volunteer opportunities available for 2026. And remember, members can also earn Service Activity Points for their volunteer contributions.

2026 Volunteer Opportunities: Councils, Forums, Work Groups, Committees, and Leadership

Advisory Councils
Corporate Advisory Council

The Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) includes senior leaders of corporate programs who represent the voice of corporate members. CAC members inform WERC about key trends and issues impacting the talent mobility industry and identify and support initiatives that create value for corporate members.

Time commitment: Monthly CAC calls and participation in one subcommittee

EMEA Region Advisory Council

The EMEA Advisory Council includes corporate and supplier partners from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa who identify and support initiatives related to advocacy, education, and research that create value for talent mobility professionals in EMEA. Must be based in EMEA. 

Time commitment: Bi-monthly EMEA Advisory Council calls and participation in one subcommittee 

Emerging Leaders Advisory Council

The Emerging Leaders Advisory Council supports emerging leaders by facilitating connections among peers, fostering ambassadors for the talent mobility industry, and increasing visibility of the industry’s next generation of leadership. ELs contribute insights and manage several high visibility initiatives for WERC.

Time commitment: Monthly EL Advisory Council calls and participation in one subcommittee

LATAM Region Advisory Council

The LATAM Advisory Council includes corporate and supplier partners from across Latin America who support regional education and research, including several new events and initiatives for 2026. Must be based in LATAM.

Time commitment: Quarterly LATAM Advisory Council calls and participation in one task force

Service Provider Advisory Council

The Service Provider Advisory Council (SPAC) includes senior leaders who represent the diverse voices of the industry’s service provider verticals. SPAC members inform WERC about key trends and issues impacting the talent mobility industry and identify and support initiatives that create value for service providers.

Time commitment: Monthly SPAC calls and participation in one subcommittee

Sustainability Advisory Council

The Sustainability Advisory Council (SAC) includes subject matter experts who: 1) advise WERC on industry trends and practices related to environmental sustainability, 2) support the development and implementation of industry-focused resources and content, and 3) support the development of WERC responses to regulatory actions.

Time commitment: Quarterly SAC calls, with an additional 1-2 calls as needed based on evolving policy and industry needs

Policy Forums
Compliance Forum

Members of the WERC Compliance Forum inform members and stakeholders about current legal and regulatory issues impacting workforce mobility. Forum members actively engage in initiatives and educational opportunities to help WERC members navigate complicated legal and regulatory matters that are critical to a compliant mobility program.

Time commitment: Monthly forum calls

Immigration Forum

Members of the Immigration Forum inform members and stakeholders about immigration policies that impact talent mobility. When appropriate, forum members help develop position statements and support advocacy efforts to influence immigration policies. Representation includes multinational companies, startups, leading legal and consultancy firms, and nationally recognized experts in areas of immigration law, policy, and mobility management.

North American Real Estate and Mortgage Forum

The North American Real Estate and Mortgage Forum focuses on aspects of real estate transactions that are important to talent mobility and educates WERC members on real estate-related issues, compliance and tax issues related to mortgage lending, and the conveyancing of real property. When appropriate, forum members help develop position statements and support advocacy efforts to influence real estate policies.

Tax Forum

The Tax Forum monitors and educates WERC members on the significant tax law and regulatory changes relevant to talent mobility, including the legal and financial impact for employers and tax obligations for transferees/assignees. When appropriate, Forum members help develop position statements and support advocacy efforts to influence tax policy.

Work Groups
NEW: WERC Ambassadors Work Group

Members of the Ambassadors Work Group will amplify WERC’s voice and visibility across social media networks through authentic peer-to-peer engagement, help identify emerging platforms or engagement opportunities, serve as enthusiastic advocates for WERC programs, resources, and events, and model online engagement that strengthens community connection and member pride in affiliation with WERC.

Time commitment: Monthly calls

NEW: Career Transition Work Group

Members of the Career Transition Work Group will identify and address the needs of professionals navigating career changes within the talent mobility industry, create resources, programming, and partnerships that support job seekers, and foster a supportive network that encourages continued engagement with WERC during periods of transition.

Content Work Group

Members of the Content Work Group inform WERC about key trends and issues impacting the talent mobility industry and recommend topics and people to interview for WERC publications. Content Work Group members also support the creation of WERC digital content by writing pieces for publication, serving as sources for WERC-written pieces, or connecting WERC staff to potential contributors on industry topics.

Time commitment: 1 hour per month plus additional time, as needed, for brainstorming and source connection and outreach

CRP Certification Review Board

Members of the Certified Relocation Professional (CRP®) Certification Review Board help keep the CRP® curriculum current and relevant by writing questions for the exam and offering insights to accurately measure a mobility professional's comprehensive knowledge of U.S. employee relocation principles, practices, and related issues. Must hold valid CRP.

Time commitment: Approximately 8 to 10 hours per year

Global 26 Program Planning Committee

Members of the Global 26 Planning Committee design and curate the conference program to ensure it addresses the needs and interests of attendees. Committee members identify relevant topics, evaluate session proposals, and collaborate with presenters to develop high-quality learning experiences.

Time commitment: Approximately 12 calls throughout the year as needed

WERC Momentum Mentorship Program

The WERC Momentum Mentorship Program is a project-based mentorship journey designed to cultivate the next generation of global mobility leaders. Advisors and mentors are assigned to a pod with 2-3 mentees and play an integral role in expanding mentees’ knowledge, professional skills, and networks. 

Time commitment: 12 to 15 hours during the mentorship program from January to October

Online Directory Work Group

Members of the Online Directory Work Group advise WERC on the structure, functionality, and user experience for the next generation of WERC's online membership directory. Work group members support WERC’s efforts to enhance member visibility, connection, and engagement through a directory platform and provide input on best practices for ensuring data accuracy, usability, and accessibility.

Time commitment: Monthly calls

Value Creation Work Group

Members of the Value Creation Work Group drive the creation of a compelling, unified, industry-wide value case for talent mobility. Work group members will advance the work done in 2025 by reviewing vertical-specific deliverables, identifying and addressing any gaps, and making recommendations to publicly share the work.

Volunteer Requirements

To volunteer with WERC, you are expected to:

  • Maintain an active WERC membership – either as your company’s designated representative or an individual membership – throughout the duration of the one-year volunteer term.
  • Be an active participant by attending scheduled calls and providing substantive input into activities, initiatives, and resources.

Applications for 2026 volunteer positions are now closed. Assignments will be made in December 2025, and notifications will be sent in early January. Note: Groups are limited in size, and submission of an interest form does not guarantee acceptance for a volunteer activity.
