2026 WERC Board of Directors Candidate Information

The WERC Board of Directors is responsible for defining the association’s mission, vision, and strategic direction providing oversight, and ensuring the association has the necessary resources to fulfill its strategic objectives.   

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply! The WERC Board of Directors believes that a diverse and inclusive board, with broad representation from business and industry skills and experience, geographic locations, gender, and ethnicities, will shape and support the future of our industry.

Commitment Required of Board Members:   

Individual members of the board have fiduciary obligations to exercise care in acting as stewards of the organization and must always act in the best interest of the organization. This includes the duty to prepare for and participate in all meetings. 

  • Term: Three years, commencing on 1 January 2026.

  • Commitment to invest in board participation (time and expense as needed).      

  • Board meetings: Four per year; held in-person or virtually. The 2026 calendar will be established in late 2025. Although their term does not commence until 2026, new board members will be invited to participate in board activities at WERC Global 25 in October. 

  • Committees: All board members will be asked to serve on at least one board committee. Time commitments vary. 

  • Special meetings: Special meetings of the board may be called occasionally. 

  • Orientation: New board members will be expected to attend WERC Global 25, taking place October 2025. Virtual orientation sessions will be conducted before GWS. 

  • Represent WERC: Board members must have a willingness to participate in WERC events, educational programming, and to serve as a spokesperson for industry members and the media as requested. 

  • Conflict of interest: Board members must disclose all potential conflicts of interest and may be asked to recuse themselves from participating in WERC or third-party activities should a conflict arise. 

Board Selection Process: 

  • Candidates selected by the Recruiting Committee for consideration by the Nominating Committee must be able to participate in 30-minute plus phone screenings between mid-July and mid-August 2025. Candidates will be notified of their selection to be interviewed by early July.  Interviewees will be notified of the Board’s final decision by the end of August.
