Jonathan Traub is the leader of the Tax Policy Group within Deloitte’s Washington National Tax practice. With extensive experience in both the private sector and on Capitol Hill, he offers deep insight into how U.S. tax policy is developed, negotiated, and implemented — and what it means for businesses navigating a constantly changing legislative landscape.
Before joining Deloitte in 2012, Jonathan served as Staff Director for the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means, where he was responsible for developing legislative policy and strategy on key issues including taxes, health care, and trade. At Deloitte, he leads a team dedicated to identifying, evaluating, and monitoring legislative proposals, and interpreting their practical implications for clients across industries.
Jonathan frequently shares his perspectives through Deloitte’s Tax News & Views newsletter and other publications, as well as at leading industry and policy conferences. His insights have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, Politico, and The Washington Post, making him one of the most recognized voices in tax policy today.
He holds a BA in History from Haverford College and a JD from the University of Virginia.
